Hi, I'm Christine – Treasurer at Glenrothes Strollers Community Club.
My journey with the Strollers began when my eldest son joined the club at just five years old—he's now 23, and I’ve been part of the sidelines (and far beyond!) ever since. Like many parents, I started out cheering from the sidelines, unaware of the incredible commitment and passion powering the club behind the scenes.
It was another parent and volunteer who first encouraged me to get involved. As I learned more about the challenges the club faced—entirely volunteer-run, dependent on goodwill to coach, organise sessions, secure sponsorships, and keep everything ticking—I knew I wanted to give back.
I began as Secretary for the Young Strollers section, and later stepped into the role of Treasurer. When we secured dedicated training grounds and finally opened our much-anticipated clubhouse, the club entered an exciting new phase. As the long-serving committee handed over the reins, I proudly took on the role of Treasurer for the whole club.
All this while working full-time, I’ve continued to dedicate my time and energy to the club, volunteering has become my second job. Juggling full-time work and volunteering isn’t always easy—but seeing the impact we make in the community makes it all worthwhile.
What began as a football club has grown into a vibrant community hub. We’re not just developing players anymore; we’re creating a place where people of all ages and backgrounds feel welcome, supported, and proud to belong.
“If you’ve ever thought ‘someone should help,’ maybe that someone could be you. I promise—it’s worth it.”
